Fifth International Symposium on Cancer Therapies

Presented by the David C. Koch Regional Cancer Therapy Center of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Centers.

Meeting Dates and Goals:

The Fifth International Symposium on Regional Cancer Therapies will take place February 20 – 22, 2010 in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The Symposium is sponsored by the David C. Koch Regional Cancer Therapy Center, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Center for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences and UPMC Cancer Centers.

The Koch Regional Cancer Therapy Center is committed to:

  • Promoting Research, Development and Application of Regional Cancer Therapies
  • Exchanging Information and Promoting Education Among Professionals regarding Regional Cancer Therapies

The Fifth International Symposium will serve as a comprehensive forum to achieve these goals.

Target Audience:

The target audience includes physicians and nurses practicing in the areas of medical, surgical, thoracic and gynecologic oncology and gastroenterology and researchers involved in the field of hyperthermia and regionally applied biologic therapies.

Call for Abstracts – General Information:

Abstract receipt deadline: October 1, 2009 4:00 p.m. EST. There is no fee for electronic abstract submissions.

Abstract Submission Process:

A Scientific Program Committee (SPC) of the Symposium will review all submitted abstracts and posters and select abstracts and posters for oral presentation. The SPC expects that all abstracts selected for presentation will be presented by the authors and that submitted abstracts will not be withdrawn. Please do not submit an abstract if you are not prepared to travel to the meeting and present it. Submitting an abstract does not register you for the Symposium. You must also register for the meeting. Meeting registration will be available online soon.

Papers that have been published prior to the time of presentation may not be submitted unless special consideration is requested of the SPC via email: hewkom@upmc.edu. Please provide a statement explaining the special circumstances.

Review Process:

Abstracts/Posters will be reviewed by the SPC and, if selected, will be made part of the oral presentation agenda. There will be no separate poster session. Oral presentations are formal, LCD/Power-Point presentations, approximately 20 minutes in length, followed by a short discussion period.
